The agenda included unanimous approval of:

    • new Board members and officers
    • the balanced 2010-11 annual operating budget

Having completed five fantastic years as our President, Dr. Barbara Minsky was thanked by all and presented with a very special gift, a beautiful hand-made necklace purchased in Jerusalem during the congregation’s recent trip.

We look forward to continued growth and vibrancy under our new President, Deborah Beck.

On Sunday, May 16th, the congregation celebrated the last day of this year’s Religious School.

We enjoyed games, water and fun. Then, the Temple Youth Group, assisted by the Brotherhood, provided lots of good food.

Three years ago, Temple had 5 kids in Religious School. Next year, we are planning for 22 kids.

Wow !

Talk about a vibrant and growing congregation !

Temple’s DeliDay 2010 – A Roaring Success

Temple’s DeliDay 2010 – A Roaring Success

June 21, 2010

April 28th was “Deli Day” at Dothan’s Temple Emanu-El.

An army of congregants joined with restauranteur Steve Dubrinsky of Birmingham’s “Max’s Deli” to build and sell 1245 bagged lunches consisting of a kosher corned beef sandwich on rye, spicy deli mustard, chips, half a kosher pcikle, and an ooey gooey chocolate chip cookie.

Steve was on-site and really enjoyed being in the Temple kitchen with 30 volunteers cutting pickles and making sandwiches at dawn.

Deli Day was a fabulous fundraising success for the Temple. We are truly amazed by the greater Dothan community’s support of the event and look forward to an even bigger and better Deli Day 2011.
