Temple Celebrates Deli Day 2014

May 2, 2014

Wow !

Another great success !

Fifty volunteers sold, prepared, and delivered just under 2,000 kosher style corned beef on rye sandwich bagged lunches on Deli Day, May 1st.

Deli Day is fun, delicious, our big spring fundraiser, plus the entire Dothan area community is involved. We were honored to donate 500 of the meals to nine local area non-profits who feed citizens in-need.

We hope that you enjoy the photo’s below and the link to our event’s front page article in The Dothan Eagle:

Purim 2014 at Temple Emanu-El

Purim 2014 at Temple Emanu-El

March 17, 2014

On Friday evening March 14, we celebrated Purim at Temple Emanu-El with a great pot luck dinner followed by Shabbat evening worship services.

As services ended, all were treated to the premier of a fantastic Purim play !

Our evening concluded, whew, with a fun-filled Oneg featuring what seemed like hundreds of Hamentashen.

It doesn’t get any better than this – lots of great food and family fun as well as the very special experience of celebrating Shabbat and Purim as a Temple family.

Please enjoy the photographs below !

Dothan Synagogue Opens Its Doors For “Neighbor Night”

February 24, 2014

On Friday, February 21st, Temple Emanu-El was pleased to open its doors to the general Dothan community as we hosted our nineteenth annual Neighbor Night.

The 75 attendees included members of our congregation as well as our friends in the Catholic and Protestant community.

During the Shabbat Evening Service, Rabbi Lynne Goldsmith paused several times to explain the context, nature, history, and significance of the various portions of the Service.

When the Service ended, Rabbi Goldsmith lead an informative question and answer session from the pulpit and then we all enjoyed an awesome Oneg in the Social Hall.
