Deli Day at Temple Emanu-El

May 5, 2016

Wow !

Another smashing success !

Fifty volunteers sold, prepared, and delivered a record 2,263 kosher corned beef on rye bagged lunches on Deli Day, May 4th.

Deli Day is fun, delicious, our big spring fundraiser, plus the entire Dothan area community is involved. We were pleased to donate over 450 of the meals to eight local area non-profits who feed citizens in-need.

Sold!

February 1, 2016

On Saturday evening, January 23, Temple Emanu-El celebrated Sisterhood’s Annual Art Auction.

The Temple’s Social Hall was packed with an audience of 125 – members of our congregation as well as the general Dothan community.

After a reception that included champagne, wonderful hors d’oeurves, and desserts, the audience enjoyed two hours of auction entertainment.

A huge catalog of top quality pieces was sold by the prominent national art auction firm “State of the Art” at this truly magnificent Temple Sisterhood fundraising event.

A portion of the proceeds from our annual art auction will be used to provide philanthropic donations to vitally important Dothan community organizations and are also used to support the Temple.

Let’s Go to Camp!

January 15, 2016

On Sunday January 10th, Temple Emanu-El really enjoyed a visit from the director of the URJ’s Regional Camp, Henry S. Jacobs.

Dothan’s own Anna Blumenfeld Herman and her husband Nadav made a presentation to our kids and parents about how great the Camp is, we watched an exciting video, and played some games.

Then, Anna and Nadov hosted a pizza lunch and some super fun in a “bounce house.”

Our congregation is so proud of Anna and all that she is accomplishing at Camp Jacobs. If all goes well, our “small but mighty” congregation will send 8 children to the Camp the summer of 2016 !
