April 1, 2015

On March 31, Dr. Joel M. Hoffman visited Dothan’s Temple Emanu-El to present and discuss his latest book entitled “The Bible’s Cutting Room Floor: The Holy Scriptures Missing From Your Bible.”

His visit was sponsored by Troy University and the Alabama Humanities Foundation.

Dr. Hoffman is an expert on the Bible, Hebrew, and translation; a much sought-after speaker who presents to dozens of popular and academic audiences each year. His earned degrees are: BA (Summa Cum Laude) from Brandeis University; MS in Computer Science from Israel’s Technion Institute, and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Maryland.

He is a noted author and has served on the faculties of Brandeis University and Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.

Dr. Hoffman made a excellent presentation to the attendees — fascinating information, history, and some great humor — all clearly portraying his passion, intellect and command of the subject matter. He then took some audience questions, followed by “an oneg”celebration and book signing.
