Deli Day Returns to Dothan!

Deli Day Returns to Dothan!

May 27, 2009

For many years, Dothan’s Temple Emanu-El produced an annual event named Deli Day, preparing and selling to the greater Dothan community corned beef sandwiches presented in a bagged lunch. Due to variety of reasons, the event did not take place for the past five years.

On Thursday April 30th, Deli Day returned and was “1000 per cent successful.”

An army of Temple volunteers and their community friends, of all ages, prepared and sold 1000 bagged lunches. We sold every bagged lunch that was prepared and raised several thousand dollars for the synagogue.

The secrets of our success included: good organization; great team work among the volunteer army; we secured top quality corned beef and crisp kosher pickles from Maxi’s Deli of Birmingham, AL; as well as fantastic Jewish rye bread and ooey gooey chocolate cookies from The Atlanta Bread Company.

For 2010, Deli Day will be bigger and better – our objective is to sell
1200 lunches.
